Are you a racist? It's my belief that being born and raised in Canada, in a society with both political and socioeconomic systems that privilege white folks over other ethnic groups, that I need to be intentional about unlearning the ways I have been conditioned to perform whiteness. Although it is never my intent to be racist, I can be. Why write about racism? I hope to use this blog to reflect on and explore more deeply my day-to-day interactions with the world as a white person and to reflect on the impacts my own attitudes, values, behaviours and choices have. I also want to become more aware of ideas related to white supremacy, colonialism and institutional barriers to inclusion, diversity and equity. What do you believe?
